It was originally planned to build this bike as a replica of one of Andy's championship winning CR's but, during the build the bike has been sold to someone. Accordingly, the bike will now be to it's new owners requirements. And following a recent change in the AMCA eligibility rules the bike has been ported to get the best results from a non- reed valve barrel, as you can see the transfer ports have been slightly enlarged and matched to the Wossner piston's cutaways.

The barrel has been re-bored and honed to take the new ceramic coated piston and the sharp edges of the exhaust, inlet and transfer ports have all been radiused to avoid premature ring wear.
The bottom end of the engine has also been powder coated black, treated to a re-conditioned crankshaft with new con rod, main bearings and seals. While the gear box although still a standard Honda box has had some of Andy's modifications to improve gear selection. However, although it was originally planned to fit a digital PVL ignition system, in the interests of cost the standard Honda points system has been retained.

With the engine completed and re-fitted to the chassis the new Mikuni carb can be fitted using the original intake stub and rubbers. Although there is nothing wrong with the original Keihin carb the more modern Mikuni delivers a better mid-range and needle and jets are much more readily available, making trackside adjustments a lot easier.
The bike is now starting to take shape, just requiring the seat, rear wheel, exhaust and handle bar controls to be fitted before it can be started up and set up ready for delivery to its proud new owner.
